Graciella speaks. I channel her words, wisdom, and sentiment. -Theresa
The Spiral: Graciella places us on pause. Reflect, my dears, on the strand you inhabit in your ancestral lineage.
The image of the spiral is reminiscent of the strands of DNA. What is your place in your lineage? We all have those who came before us and many of us have those who have come behind us. The ones we have birthed, the ones we have raised, and the ones we have mentored. As this image depicts on the tambourine of celebration, we each are afforded our own strands, although we join others at the tympanic drum.
Listen to what those who have gone before you have experienced. Honor their stories but also honor your own strand of life. There are those of us who ignore our own strands while we tend to the elders and to the children. This is the time to place your oxygen mask on and then to help your loved one place his or her own mask on for breathing. Without breath we have nothing. We are dependent upon oxygen to maintain our dynamic ecosystems, our bodies, ourselves.
What our ancestors did helped us to be who we are today. They are our powers of examples whether in a positive or negative sense. We are not expected to be them but to incorporate their wisdom or lack thereof in how we walk in the world. The children learn by our examples but we cannot expect them to be us. They have their own strands to weave.
Today, I will reflect on my strand in the lineage of my life and to attend to myself today. When I take care of myself, I allow myself to be available to those I have in my circle of love.
In light and love,
Graciella and Theresa
