Graciella la Gitana Oracle © Weekly Reading

Yesterday I updated my blog site and I’m totally unfamiliar with this new style of blogging that is all behind the scenes to the finished product. That just about wraps up the way everything is going in my life. The exterior seems fairly smooth but the interior me is adjusting to all things new and different. Last Sunday evening, Graciella and I drew the Change/ Cambios oracle card and it was on point as always.

Today was filled with holiday shopping,  visiting my Dad at the assisted living facility, and grocery shopping. It all went off without a hitch other than the  increased traffic that’s to be expected at this time of year. It all seemed mundane except for the car that was pulled over on the expressway filled with bullet holes. It made me think of how fortunate I am and that my loved one or myself wasn’t in that car or that I don’t have a child in a cage awaiting deportation and that I walked throughout the day with my spouse bickering at times like spoiled teenagers. I’m truly blessed. I wrote a few pages in my second Daisy novel WIP and got a nudge from Graciella. It was time to pull this week’s card

We smudged ourselves and the Oracle. We shuffled the cards, fanned them out on my writing desk, and pulled the one that called out. Together we pulled the East/Este card.

                 East/Este Graciella la Gitana Oracle

I immediately think of Morning Tobacco prayers that call to the four directions. The East is the place of the new day, new beginnings, the light that is within us and in our surroundings. It is the place of Eagle spirit that according to Sams in her Animal Medicine cards tells us to stay in the light of Spirit and not to get mired in the mud as can easily happen when we don’t stay in the light.

We learn to shine our shine as very young children. At some point it becomes a choice whether we want to be in the light and not get stuck in the negativity that is so prevalent as we age and are offered choices to gossip, to be mean, not to give an answer, or maybe laugh if someone fumbles or trips. This card reminds us about the peace and tranquility that comes to us in the simplicity of illumination. Today I see the image of the card as one of growth and of being tethered to beauty if we allow it. The barren trees may be from our backgrounds, maybe we had a childhood wasn’t that great or happy, but today we still have the opportunity to meet and greet the light of the sun that is rising. That whatever the background or our baggage we can still make the choice to be in the light. That whatever is going on around us in this chaotic and dark world filled with charlatans and persons who may not want to be in the light, we can not only be in the light but be the light.

Make your choice, pray to golden eagle, that you too, may fly high with Spirit!

Our love and light,

Graciella y Theresa

I made it a point this week to keep last Sunday’s read up front in terms of my experience. The concept of the Sun/Sol showed up clearly for me. The meaning wasn’t news that I might be unhappy to receive. But it did arrive with a starkness, a clarity of vision, of knowledge that I would be ill-advised to deny. Did I have to do anything about the information? No. But it was still helpful to know and it started a series of talks for me to begin managing an important part of my life.

Today, I smudged myself and the oracle with white sage. It smells so wonderful. I shuffled the cards three times, and fanned them out on an uncluttered surface, my creative table. I felt Graciella’s energy merge with mine as I centered and together we pulled the Change/Cambios card from the oracle deck.

Change! Yet again, we receive the message that change is afoot. What else is new? The image shows the hand reaching for two cannisters when there is one on the counter that is spilling sugar. Surprisingly, a piece of jewelry is also seen in the sugar. The wall tiles are vividly colored and today I see them as Christmas decorations already hanging. Can you see that too?

As we become busy with the holiday season, it would be prudent to take the time to tend to what needs to be done before we attempt to do more. Are we buying things we already have? Are we neglecting basic things  because we are harried and in a rush. What might we be purposefully neglecting because we believe that cleaning up our messes will take up too much time.

Take a moment. Look around. Where in our lives are things neglected or ignored because we believe that other things take precedent? The festivities are already here. We don’t have to look too far for them. We can create fun and happiness while still taking the time to take care of the things that ultimately bring a sweetness to our lives unrealized in our daily activities.

With much love,

Graciella and Theresa

Sun/Sol

For many of us, the leftovers are in the fridge, we’ve hugged our loved ones so long, and we ready for the coming week. There’s much planning that’s been completed and now we begin to plan for the upcoming holidays! For others, this time of quiet has afforded us the time to complete certain tasks and bask in solitude. However, we choose to spend our holidays, I hope for all that the wonder of life is fulfilling and that Spirit has shown you how special you are in this world.

Today, as usual, I smudged with white sage in my abalone shell and centered my energies with that of Graciella, la Gitana, who walks with me. I shuffled the cards from the oracle deck and fanned them out on an uncluttered surface. Together, Graciella and I chose the Sun/Sol card.

The simplicity of this image is one that always surprises me in its beauty. Graciella walks the desert with her camel. There must be a certain trust in the environment to take this action. The aridity and barrenness in the image invites one to acknowledge the certain need to believe and have faith in what is happening or may occur in the environment or situation. The blueness of the sky is stark, yet pleasant, to the eye. The sun is seen, in this particular case, like a opening one may reach into. If one chooses to reach in, he or she must take care not to be burned. If we are aware of our protection, we must use it. Before we avail ourselves of situations that may not be to our best interest, we should take stock of what we may need. Do we need basic survival tools, like a cloak, a canteen or two filled with water for you and your loyal beast? Food that will not spoil? A balm for one’s burning lips?

Go forth, this week and allow yourself to be aware of the areas in your life that may be illuminated with information or knowledge that is brought in honest frankness. We might not find ourselves in the desert, but be prepared. The sun lights areas with sometimes uncomfortable radiance. Don’t we want to know? Don’t we want to see? Don’t we want to be prepared? While seeing with such clarity may be anxiety provoking, it will bring us exactly what we need and ultimately want to know.

With much light and love,

Graciella and Theresa

Graciella la Gitana Oracle

The weekend was filled with friends, food, and partaking of spiritual sustenance. There was celebration and ceremony. I’m not able to do any of these things alone and they are all done by choice.  These are some of the activities that allow me to refuel so that I can do the other things that may be my life’s work but also may leave me vulnerable or feeling drained- no matter how much I love my work or feel that it is my chosen path. While I may have chosen to do my work, I fully believe that my Higher Power and chosen me to do the service that I do.

Graciella la Gitana Oracle- Health-Salud

Reading for week of October 14, 2018:

This evening I went through my regular ritual of smudging with sage in my abalone shell. I had first lit a candle, one of the tall boys, and shuffled and fanned the cards. Before I pulled the card, I centered and felt myself become one with my spirit guide, Graciella la Gitana. We pulled the card together. It was the Health-Salud card that came to the front of the room to speak for us. Health is one of those fundamental aspects of ourselves that we must tend to on a daily basis in one way or another. Health encompasses the body-mind-spiritual connection. There are other aspects such as financial and housing concerns that need to addressed to keep ourselves balanced and feeling a sense of general well-being.

Last Monday I ended up having a cold and was glad to leave work finally at five. While I was sitting on the train imagining the comfort of my bed I received a call that my eighty eight year old Dad was in the hospital with similar symptoms and fever. Instead of curling up, I walked my pups, had a quick dinner, and spent the evening in the emergency room with him until the doctor determined a quick treatment and discharge back to his assisted living facility would help him get on the right track. I eventually got home and slept a great restorative sleep. He was better the next day and I was a few days later. A couple of days ago, my spouse received disappointing news and is now pretty sick too.

The card shows one in need of help and the other tending to that person. Whether the treatment be herbs, bandages, or the love of another that can help a person heal there are certain things that we mustn’t take for granted. The green area rug shows me the foundation of the earth that we need to stay grounded and is reminiscent of the outdoors that will provide us with fresh air. The green also reminds me of how a walk in nature, especially these days with the autumn leaves crunching underfoot, will take me a long way toward the tranquility that I often miss in the city that is bustling and busy and often chaotic. It is okay to take to my bed sometimes and pull those covers up to my neck if I need to remove myself from the pandemonium of my world. The old saying, Stop the world, I need to get off, may be exactly what needs to be done in order to return a refreshed version of ourselves.

Con mucho cariño,

Graciella la Gitana Oracle Weekly Reading

Family is here. Outings are planned. Happiness has arrived! Taking a moment to sit with the cards to do the week’s reading is as important as all the wonderful things we are involved with here at our house! Sitting still for a moment is always priority. As always, I smudge with sage, light a white candle, and feel Graciella’s energy combine with mine. We center, fan the cards, and choose the one for this week’s reading. So it is done!

Reading:

Together, Graciella and I chose the Wind-Viento card. Usually we read this card as a card of transformation. Today it also brings a reminder to play with abandon in the winds. Note the little white dog in the image. Graciella’s familiar. We are used to our familiars, those beings that are close to us that come in the form of a pet, a crow, a dog, or maybe a cat. They are with us at all times. Sometimes in the visible and oftentimes in the invisible. Our familiars, spiritual buddies if you will, enjoy us, provide us information, and also protect us. Whether we are in touch with it or not. During the coming week, gaze at your familiar. Strengthen the bond that has been created between you and it. It may be that when your cat stretches across your keyboard as you desperately write a few lines, that it is giving you the message to relax, stretch, play, give it the attention it seeks. You may hear or see what you have not been privy to yet. They may be bringing you the message you most need to hear if you take a moment to listen. Listen to the winds, listen to your familiar. They speak of times transformed.

Con mucho cariño,

Theresa y Graciella

Putting all else aside, I smudged with sage, centered and shuffled the cards. I blew cigar smoke over the cards and asked for the message I am to share. Together Graciella, la Gitana, my spirit guide, and I pulled the card- The Prisoner.

Image: A thin, forlorn woman sits in a fortress-like prison. Next to her, a colorful parrot sits atop its perch. There is a window cut out into the stone walls. A rising sun is seen.

Words: Sitting behind iron gates, reflect on the events that have led to incarceration. There is a sense of powerlessness as one awaits the words of another to set one free. This is the time to gather one’s spiritual resources to strengthen the soul. Freedom will always be attained at the end.

Read: Use your time wisely. Rather than sitting and waiting for outside forces to grant whatever you wish, take an action. The observer may see the woman as merely waiting. In actuality she may be meditating or gathering what wisdom she has gained in what appears to be a dismal situation as she goes forth. The sun rising offers a sense of hope. Use of the darkness of the feminine, water, intuition, and a silvery approach intermingled with the golden aspects of the sun brings balance and even an acceptance of the situation you are asking about. All is not lost. Again, take an action and see how the inner and outer melded together brings about change.

Back to the cards after another brief hiatus. Whenever I take a break and come back it’s with a bit of sheepishness that I haven’t done what I’ve said I would. These sorts of feelings can eat away at the rhythms of life. Sometimes we have to take breaks in order to attend to other priorities. My ways of discipline and commitment are not thrown aside when I stray. It’s like vacationing. We come back renewed, refreshed, and ready for the new.  In preparation for pulling this week’s card, I smudged with sage and tobacco, grounded, and centered my energy. I invited the energy of my spirit guide, Graciella la Gitana to come and share in pulling the card. Together, our energies pulled-The Toreador.

Image: The image is that of a toreador in full dress standing in the middle of the ring. He is surrounded by crowds of people, anticipating, and cheering him on. The door to the bull pen has not been opened as yet but stands heavily closed in the background.

Words:  Circling. Spiraling. Not to be outdone. Ready for the kill. Stealth, magnetism and power. Done for the effects of the audience. Done for their reactions and thirst for blood. Look to your own motives.

Read: It’s so interesting that the last card I pulled for this blog was exactly the same- The Toreador. Today I see that the toreador has an infinite amount of patience, focus, and concentration. There is so much at stake in the ring. The idea that the toreador’s life is at stake is one thing. Another is that toreadors put themselves in the middle of a blood thirsty sport. They have trained and practiced with extensive detail to discipline and movement. The idea of timing, distance, and target comes to mind. Go forward but do so with care. Ole!

At times I feel so busy that I envision myself juggling plates. It’s usually not a great feeling. This time, it’s different. Wonderful things are spiraling in the air. It’s all been on my Higher Power’s time and not mine at all. I don’t think I could have planned any of this for myself. It’s all blessed and I’m glad I just stuck to doing the things I love. Because of this love and perseverance I’m experiencing the fruits of my love in ways I could never have anticipated. I’m grateful and hope that each person who reads this will also experience these times in your lives. This morning, I smudged with sage, grounded and centered my energy. I invited the energy of my spirit guide, Graciella la Gitana to come and share in pulling this week’s card. Together, our energies pulled the card-The Toreador.

Read: I have a visceral reaction when I see this card. I am the channeler of this oracle. The idea of a bull fight is popular for many people of different countries. I don’t share the sentiment. My feeling is one of sorrow for the bull. The bull that is unsuspecting and hurt without cause. The message today is to look to where you put your drive and thirst for power. Is there some victim who will be smarting and injured as you attempt to gather an audience who will cheer you on? Meditate on the larger consequences, in this world and in the universe, of the actions you are planning to take. It may change your course. There are ways to fulfill the promise of yourself without harming anyone or anything as you do so.

After a wonderful and finally warm weekend, most of which I spent in the garden, I return to the other world that I inhabit. I’m distracted by plans for a new outdoor meditation spot. The other part of my brain tells me to do the things on my list. I don’t feel like it. So I do other things, stalling to keep the weekend in this new work week day. With that going on, I smudged with sage, centered and shuffled the cards. I blew cigar smoke over the cards and asked for the message I am to share. I felt Graciella, la Gitana, my spirit guide’s, energy strong and grounding. Together we pulled La Romantica card.

Image: The image is of a young woman leaving a well-lit mansion. Her hair is ruffled by the wind. Her wrap has been hastily donned over an evening dress. Her eyes glitter as do the wall of windows behind her. There is also a low lying bank of shrubbery behind her.

Words: Slight wistfulness of hope. No promises are made. Day moves ahead without prescription. There is knowledge that the universes are in rhythm. Patterns flow. Feeling. Tingling. Rushing through when the timing is right. The challenge is to allow the movement channel though and not attempt to do the moving.

Read: It’s so much fun it is to get a direct response to the feelings and thoughts I have today. The message that I can wholeheartedly share is to allow yourself to be just as you are. Too often we compare ourselves to whatever we think others are doing and, therefore, what we should be doing. ‘Shoulds’ can be dangerous flights of fancy that are inappropriate for ourselves at any given time. We don’t really know what ‘others’ experience. We aren’t in their bodies or minds. We create a world by observing the external experience. It’s all about the insides. Today I feel a bit slow, distracted and, I daresay, romantic. It is what it is. Let it be. All too soon I will be back on the track of what I think I ‘should’ be doing. Allow myself and allow yourself to be. Luxuriate in it.

My thoughts are whirling after an afternoon of listening to and participating in sharing of wonderful poetry and prose. It’s Monday and it’s time, for me, to get back to work in another area of my life that oftentimes may not seem as magical, but actually is. Today I shuffled, smudged the cards with cigar smoke and sage. I centered and fanned the cards out. I asked my spirit guide, Graciella la Gitana, to help me bring forth this week’s message to share. Together we pulled La Pobresa card. Poverty.

Image: A woman, whose head is covered in a scarf, stands in front of a pawn shop. She holds beads, a necklace or maybe a bracelet in her hand. The proprietor meets her eye from the front window. He stands next to a display that includes a tray of rings, a guitar, and other valuables that others have given to him for money.

Words: Feeling the poverty? What is important may have to be given up. This card is about financial options. A sense of pride is in the air. Sometimes we have to do things we don’t necessarily want to do in order to move forward or at least to a different place when the place we are in is no longer fruitful. We may sense the disarray in external therefore internal life.

Read: While the statement I reread above states this is about the financial aspect in our lives, this read is a bit different. The word “Sacrifice” resounds in my thoughts. Sacrifice isn’t something that many of us like to do. Scan your being, energy, surroundings. Look to see where there is imbalance. That might be the thing we can consider letting go of in order to go forward to be who we are truly meant to be. Another suggestion is to look at the Seven Deadly Sins and see what is not really working for us, we may already know it, but continue to make the same choices all the time because it may be scary to tweak a thing that we may uncomfortable with but what we’ve gotten used to. As the woman in the card, we can bring our jewelry to the pawn shop. The other perspective is that it is not a bracelet she is planning to enter the shop with to pawn. It may actually be that she is passing the pawn shop and using prayer beads, of some sort, or a rosary that she is using for prayer. Surrendering may mean not giving up but giving over to something Higher in our lives, That which we can depend on for our spiritual riches. This type of surrender radiates to all aspects of our lives.
